Well, it's his role as the Son of Man. The Son of God, as the Son of Man, had to go through the learning process in order to be a perfect high priest. Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and with man. He knows exactly what is needed and exactly what time it is needed so that communion with the Father can be maintained in a fallen world amidst all the sorrows, all the persecutions, all the trials, and everything that would cause a person to want to turn away and break union with God.
